New photos of the likes of U2 and The Smiths have been put in the public domain for the first time with the archive unearthing a treasure trove of items from Salford's musical past.

Jessica Blissitt meets with the University's Archivist Alexandra Mitchell and Salford alumnus Evan Hurst who pulled the archive together following a public callout for donations in April 2024.

The University of Salford would like to thank the Students Union as they were a valuable contributor to the development of the archive by allowing the team to have access to archived student newspapers and relevant gig ephemera.

We would also like to thank the following who donated photographs to the collection which are featured in this video:
The University of Salford Students' Union, Jim Mooney, Nick Barber, Sounds From The Other City, Ian Evans and Adrian Francis.
